No Social Media for Kids 16 and Under
The State of Florida passed a Bill that limits the access of social media for kids 16 and under. Florida says it will be unclear how it will be enforced but social media apps will require various methods of age verification’s and delete existing accounts of young users on all social media platforms according to the source Florida Passes a Bill Banning social media for Kids 16 and under by April Rubin. The bill implies that social media is an addiction and should be limited to kids under 16. The bill will exclude platforms for direct messaging, streaming, online-shopping, photo editing, and professional networks. Many students at Nease High School use social media in their everyday lives from checking updates on the latest trends, communicating and seeing what their friends are doing online, or just scrolling on Instagram or TikTok for their own entertainment. Students also use social media for school, promoting something for their class or looking up something that can help them with their work. The banning of social media for kids under 16 will change everything if Florida continues to go through with this idea.
