DeSantis Sends Immigrants to Martha’s Vineyard

Martha’s Vineyard is a small island and a very popular vacation spot, which is not equipped to handle an influx of migrants that are searching for jobs and affordable housing. 

This is part of a series of moves by Republican leaders to protest immigrants coming into Southern states by sending them to northern liberal states. The migrants were told that there are job opportunities and community services awaiting them in Massachusetts, which was not the case. According to a Democratic Senator that represents Martha’s Vineyard, the migrants arrived with no prior notice, so the island was completely unprepared to support them. 

These flights have generated protest among Democrats who say that Gov. DeSantis has used these migrant families as “political pawns” in order to make his point about immigration.
