Great Hit! NASA’s Successful Asteroid Strike
The DART struck Dismorphos on September 26th, 2022, according to the NASA agency. Though this asteroid did not pose a threat to Earth, scientists and researchers used this asteroid deflection to further knowledge on planetary defense. NASA Administrator Bill Nelson stated that “All of us have a responsibility to protect our home planet. After all, it’s the only one we have.” With the new knowledge gained from the striking of Dismorphus, inhabitants of planet Earth can better prepare for future and its possibilities.
