Formula 1 fans are up roaring over Lewis Hamilton’s decision to leave Mercedes- AMG PETRONAS F1 team. Lewis Hamilton is a legend in the F1 racing series and is well known for driving for Mercedes. Up until now, Hamilton has raced for Mercedes for about 11 years. No one expected the sudden change in the racers’ career and most fans are not very happy. Speculation of Hamilton leaving Mercedes began in the 2023 season but was quickly shut down by Lewis himself who made an extension with Mercedes to continue racing for them in the 2024 season. Therefore, F1 fans were stunned upon the sudden news just weeks before the 2024 racing season starts. There were only a couple rumors before Thursday, February 1. Many fans were not believing any of the rumors and were still in denial after Mercedes Team Chief, Toto Wolff, took to Instagram with an official post confirming the alleged rumors. After Wolff confirmed, other F1 accounts including the official Ferrari account also joined in to say that Hamilton will be joining Ferrari in the 2025 season. Lewis will always be a huge part of Mercedes motorsport history. Hamilton has not only won 103 victories with a Mercedes engine but is a seven-time WDC (world champion). Ferrari will most likely be Hamilton’s last racing contract before he retires. On the other hand, Carlos Sainz, who will soon be a former driver for Ferrari is rumored to be joining 2025’s new addition to the grid, Audi. Lewis will be teammates with Charles Leclerc, a very popular racer among fans who has been in contract with Ferrari since 2019. Leclerc has agreed to a long extension with Ferrari and will continue racing for them. The F1 industry wishes Lewis Hamilton and Carlos Sainz the best with their new teams in 2025.
