Hoops and Dreams: The Girls Basketball team seeks a District Championship
By: Sophia Hayes
The girls’ basketball team has faced ups and downs this season with a difficult schedule, a new coaching staff, and the loss of key seniors that graduated. Despite the obstacles this team had to overcome this season, they finished the regular season with a record of 12-12 overall and 3-1 in the district. This young team has put up big numbers, with sophomore Audrey Rollins leading the team in points per game, sophomore Sage Pytel leading the team in assists per game, and junior Casey Ellison leading the team in rebounds per game. Junior Casey Ellison says, “There’s so many girls that motivate from the inside pushing to do our best to succeed.” The girls on this team have developed an incredible bond that translates into their playing as they pass the ball effortlessly and communicate on defense in hopes of taking home a district title. The girls will continue to chase their goal in the Den on February 6th at 6:00pm against Mandarin. This district semi-finals will be a highly enjoyable game!
