Hospitality and Tourism

By Megyn Decker

The Hospitality and Tourism Academy at Nease is well known for students who are interested in hotel, restaurant, and sport management. The classes offer many opportunities to go on field trips, as students openly visit local attractions to learn how services are managed in a real-world job. Some examples include field trips to Downtown St. Augustine, mainly visits to certain market shops and the famous fort. They have also visited nearby colleges such as Flagler College. Students have also attended business meetings in nearby inns, hotels, and other reserved places near Ponte Vedra. The academy helps students build their hospitality resume, therefore giving them experience before graduating and moving onto college. It also gives an active certification for students to further use in resumes and essays for upcoming college students. Even if a student doesn’t want to go to college, hospitality classes can be good preparation for anyone interested in a business management job.

The Hospitality and Tourism academy has much to offer and creates thousands of job opportunities. It has also generated money for the school, and has continued to grow to this day. The more recognition it gets, the more people we can direct into real-world hospitality careers. Around the globe, many high schoolers use hospitality and tourism classes to prepare themselves for future careers and jobs that they may be interested in after high school. Hospitality and Tourism classes, similar to Nease’s, are also introduced in many other schools around the world. The impact of this class can greatly broaden opportunities for students’ futures.
