How Early is Too Early to Listen to Christmas Music?

Christmas is just around the corner, and so is the long-lasting debate of the appropriate time to start listening to Christmas music. Some people start listening in October, others start a week before December 25th. According to Statista (a German online platform specialized in data gathering and visualization) 55% of people think the day after Thanksgiving is the right time, 33% of people believe that November 1st is the appropriate time, and 12% of people are unsure. There is no right or wrong answer, however, it is still argued over every year. Let us see what our panthers think!

People start listening to Christmas music at various times. Sydney Taylor, a junior here at Nease, was asked about her opinions on Christmas music. When asked when she believes to be too early is she replied: “Too early is the start of November, I think you should wait until the end of November so you can soak up fall and Thanksgiving.” Another question she was asked was: “When do you like listening to Christmas music?” She followed up with, “I like Christmas music only on the last few days of November and throughout December.” Sydney also added, “I don’t think people should listen to Christmas music any earlier than after Thanksgiving because it can get annoying.”

Mr. Binns, an English teacher at Nease, has his opinions on Christmas music. Binns believes that, “Any time after Halloween would be alright to listen and enjoy it.” Although he loves it, Mr. Binns says that, “It’s nice to hear it annually, but it gets old really quickly for me.” Binns prefers the traditional classics, such as “Oh Holy Night,” and he despises when country artists think they can sing Christmas music. Binns himself starts listening to Christmas music after Halloween, getting in spirit early.

No matter if you are a Grinch, or love Christmas, listening to Christmas music never gets old. Have a Merry Christmas and enjoy listening!
