Increase in Wages at St. Johns Schools

The St. Johns County has reached an agreement to increase pay for bus drivers, custodians, teacher’s aides, and other staff members in schools. The school board agreed to this advancement in a meeting where they discussed an increase in pay of 400 to 500 dollars to people working over 13 years in the education field, and will commence between the year 2023-24. This decision will not only benefit our school staff, but it also shows our appreciation to them, specifically, bus drivers. Bus drivers must pick up and drop off children from ages 5-16. They’re constantly dealing with screaming, shouting, and other rambunctious behavior. Even with all this going on, they still ensure that the children are getting to and from school safely. Bus drivers have big hearts and a lot of patience as do all staff. They all play a big part in keeping order and creating a safe environment for children to learn and grow. This pay advancement will show that we acknowledge their well-being and effort to St. Johns County.
