Mickler’s Beach is closed

With summer being only a few days away, many people look forward to going to the beach and soaking in the sunshine. Mickler’s Beach, in particular, is very popular among Nease students. However, Mickler’s will be closed May 18th to May 23rd due to expedite work on the Ponte Vedra Restoration Project. This project aims to “provide substantial coastline fortifications, including dune reconstruction between 13 and 18 feet, beach berm elevation of eight feet, and beach width increase of 40 to 180 feet post-construction.”

The project was originally estimated to be completed by mid-August, but with beach closings, we can look forward to the beach opening by the end of June. Additional May closure dates are still to be announced based on the progress of the project. To stay updated on the restoration project and beach closures, visit http://www.sjcfl.us/PVB. Hopefully the beach will reopen soon, and we can resume enjoying the sand and sea!
