Nease Theatre Performing: The Sound of Music
Nease Theatre is teaming up with Apex Studio to put on an amazing performance of The Sound of Music. The Sound of Music, for those unfamiliar, is set in Salzburg, Austria during the years leading up to World War II and is based on the 1949 memoir The Story of the Trapp Family Singers. “The musical tells the story of Maria, who takes a job as governess to a large family while she decides whether to become a nun. She falls in love with the children and their widowed father, Captain von Trapp. He is ordered to accept a commission in the German navy, but he opposes the Nazis. He and Maria decide to flee from Austria with the children” (sound-of-music.com). She fills their home with love and music, singing songs like “Do-Re-Mi”, “Sixteen Going on Seventeen”, and “My Favorite Things”. The 70 minute musical will run for 5 days: April 10th, 11th, and 12th at 7pm and April 12th and 13th at 2pm. Make sure to come and support the theatre department and watch this great rendition of The Sound of Music!
