Nease High School Under Lockdown

Monday February 10th, 2021, authorities received word of a threat scribed on a female bathroom wall in blue ink. Each and every one of the 3100 Nease High School students, located at 10660 Ray Road in Ponte Vedra Beach, went into a soft lockdown halfway. The timing of the incident occurred halfway through 3rd period and all the way into 5th period until around 2:30pm. Nease students’ hands were checked in their 5th period for blue ink in order to catch the suspect. The St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office deputies raced down I95 shortly before noon to investigate the school. They examined the threat written on the bathroom wall as well as searched the entire school building. Sheriff’s Office Spokesman Chuck Milligan reported the threat to the school as “unsubstantiated” at this time. Thus, students and staff members continued throughout their normal school day to 7th period and then home.
