Protection for Protectors
There will be a new bill that would make it a federal crime to murder a federal, state, or local law enforcement officer. This person would be convicted to serve life in prison or receive the death penalty. As the current law stands, the murder of a federal officer is a federal crime. GOP Rep Yvette Herrell of New Mexico and Republican Senator Tom Cotton from Arkansas push to expand the federal crime to a local and state level.
