Pythons Now in the Everglades

For years, the Everglades have been occupied by some invasive species. One of the worst being the Burmese python. This was the first sighting this year, and researchers believe that there are more. These pythons negatively impact the Everglades ecosystem by eating anything in its path. When researchers tested the water, they found DNA in the center part of the Everglades, which is away from most people. Hunters will be rewarded $15 an hour for looking through the marshes. If it isn’t stopped, the Burmese python can eventually impact all of Florida’s ecosystem. If you see a python in the wild, report it to a park ranger or call the “I’ve got 1” reporting hotline at 888-483-4681.
