Return of the Clay County Fair
By: Kaylee Ireland
It’s time! The annual Clay County Fair officially kicked off Thursday, April 3, welcoming families from across the area to enjoy 11 days of rides, food, and festivities. The fair is a favorite spring tradition, and this year promises more thrills than ever. Guests can look forward to new attractions, including high-energy rides like the Rock and Roll Himalaya and the Lolli Swing. For younger visitors, the Pirate’s Revenge kiddie ride adds even more excitement to the fair. With this, there is now a new Fast Pass upgrade, $15 on weekdays and $20 on weekends, which will let guests skip long ride lines during peak hours. However, it’s not all just fun and games as safety is a top priority. Clay County Emergency Management urges guests to check the weather and prepare for sun or storms with hats, sunscreen, and proper shoes. Law enforcement, including undercover deputies, will be on site, and the Florida Department of Agriculture will inspect rides daily. “This is the busiest 11 days in our county,” said Sheriff Michelle Cook. “We expect up to 170,000 visitors. Plan ahead, carpool if you can, and follow traffic updates on the Clay County SaferWatch app.” Whether you’re going for the funnel cakes, livestock shows, or just to soak in the fun, the Clay County Fair is ready to deliver safe, family-friendly entertainment for all ages.
