South Florida Floods Over

By: Sophia Yarashas

On Wednesday, April 12th, Fort Lauderdale experienced record breaking rainfalls, which caused flooding throughout the area. Professionals are calling this a one in a thousand year rainfall event, with more rain coming on the way. Schools, buildings, and businesses were closed down, and planes weren’t able to land at the Fort Lauderdale International Airport. Cars were stuck in the terminals, the entrance and exit were closed. During Wednesday, a month’s worth of rain fell in just an hour. Some officials say that this is a clear indication of global warming, and comes after major unnatural flooding in other parts of the country.
