Taylor and Travis: How it Started and What’s to Come

It feels like all we hear about is Travis Kelce this, and Taylor Swift that, but where did it start? On a hot July night, Kelce attended one of Swift’s many Eras Tour Shows. He revealed a few weeks later he had the intention of meeting her and possibly getting her number, which sprung their fans into a frenzy of rumors and ship names. Only a few months later, we see her pop up at a Kansas City Chiefs Game next to Kelce’s mother. That very same winter, she verbally confirms they are dating. Now, only a year and a half later, they are officially engaged! 

Pre-Taylor Travis is something often speculated. People debate if his fame is purely due to Swift’s never-ending dating spotlight. While his recent popularity may have been sparked by the star, he has had plenty of notability in his own right. He even had his own reality dating show “Catching Kelce”, in which he came out with a girlfriend that lasted for around a year. On top of that, he is a very successful player, and holds the record for most consecutive and most overall seasons with 1,000 receiving yards by a tight end. 

Now the question is, will it last?  In Taylor’s past, she has mostly dated artists and movie stars, which makes sense for her popstar side. Even the more brooding type (i.e., John Mayer, Matty Healy, Joe Alwyn) made sense for her poet side. A football player is out of the ordinary. In addition, Kelce’s longest lasting relationship was with a sideline reporter, so this level of celebrity dating is new for him. However, all those seemingly compatible relationships were left in the past for one reason or another; maybe, due to their contrasting nature, they’ll get their happy ending. It seems some of our panthers agree. 10th grader, Kylie Dye stated, “I think it will last because they seem good together.” In the end, however, these are only predictions, and time alone will tell if it is meant to be.
