Texas Volleyball is Your 2023 National Champions

On Sunday December 17th the Texas women’s volleyball team defeated Nebraska in a sweep- a term used when a team beats their opponent in three straight sets- to win the national championship. This now becomes the 5th National Championship trophy the Texas Longhorns have brought back home. What is so significant about this victory is that they have won back-to-back and both wins being sweeps. This has not been done in NCAA Dl volleyball since 2019 when Stanford won the National Championship in 2018 and 2019. Another notable thing that makes this victory so amazing is that Texas is led by true freshman setter, Ella Swindle, who becomes just the 4th freshman to lead her team to a national championship. Many key players, such as outside hitter Madisen Skinner and libero Emma Halter, indicate that this team is going to come back just as dominant in the 2024 season and on the hunt for another National Championship.
