The Season of Sweat
By Ava Fleming
As the weather finally starts to cool down, Nease fall sports are starting up! Every Friday night our Nease panthers have a football game under the lights, and every Tuesday and Thursday we have girls’ volleyball games in the gym. Our boys’ volleyball team has open gyms occasionally when the girls’, volleyball team doesn’t have games. Fall girls’ lacrosse has also started up with practices every Tuesday and Thursday, and games at Davis Park on Sundays at 12 and 1pm.
As Nease has pushed through this season, we’ve been faced with great wins and hard losses. In the start of fall, we won many great games. Our first game was against our rival school, the Ponte Vedra Sharks. We won against them, 38-28, in a tough, long game. Nonetheless, the student section was filled to the tallest bleacher. As we continue our football season, we have only lost one game against the St Augustine Yellowjackets. This was a home game and a hard loss for Nease students, especially as the students’ section was the biggest it’s ever been. Everyone was disappointed to see us lose, especially during a fun game with the theme of USA. The final score was 28-24. But it isn’t the end for our panthers! We are so excited for our next home game against Tocoi Creek Toros, with the game theme still to be determined.
Our Nease girls’ volleyball is 2 and 8 right now, with many losses. As we continue to move
through the season, we are getting better and expecting many more wins!
After this season, as fall starts to transition into winter, we will be moving playing fields. Looking ahead, there will be our girls’ and boys’ basketball season starting mid-November and our girls’ and boys’ soccer seasons starting in November as well.
