The Best Holiday Light Displays in Jacksonville
Now that December has arrived, it is safe to say that the majority of people are in full holiday mode, and with this comes the desire to find entertaining activities to do with friends and/or family. One of the best ways to do this is by simply driving around and gazing at holiday light displays. I have gathered the three top-ranked holiday light displays from all around the city of Jacksonville.
The light display that was top-ranked by Jacksonville citizens was the Girvin Road light display. This holiday light setup won the JaxBest award this year for best holiday light display, as it has for the past three years. This is a drive-by event in which families and groups of friends can drive through the display to view the lights. This event has been increasingly popular over the past few years, and each year, more and more cars are lined up waiting for their turn to drive through to see the thousands of holiday lights. This display is located just west of Neptune Beach in the Blackhawk Bluff Neighborhood.
Next is the Night of Lights display in St. Augustine. This event won the JaxBest award for best holiday event this year. This display is located in the historic downtown St. Augustine, and families and friend groups can view these lights by taking a trolley tour of the city or simply strolling through it on foot.
The third notable holiday light display in Jacksonville is Deck the Chairs located in Jacksonville Beach. This event has a unique twist and deeper meaning behind its light display. The lights featured in this display are made up of over 20,000 pieces of waste that were collected along the coast at the beach. This event won runner-up in the JaxBest contest for both the best light display and also the best holiday event.
With the holiday season quickly approaching, we should make the most of it and engage in fun and festive holiday activities before they shut down until next year. Not to mention that viewing holiday lights is cost-free!
