St. Augustine Trolley Driver Facing Charges

Last year a trolley in downtown St. Augustine was turned over leaving passengers trapped. Passengers say before approaching the turn the driver had mentioned his favorite fair ride “The Whip”, then soon after told passengers to “hold onto your hats and kids.”  Witnesses say the driver began to speed up while approaching a sharp turn. The third cart fell to the right while landing on several passengers. Riders say even after it had fallen over he continued to drive faster into the parking lot dragging the third cart on top of fallen passengers. Gregory Robinson, the driver, was recently booked on a felony charge of reckless driving with bodily injury and a misdemeanor charge of reckless driving with property damage. Three passengers have also filed a negligence lawsuit. According to their lawyer, they say the crash left them with “physical, mental and emotional distress.”
