Florida Government Responds to Manatee Deaths
Manatees have always been a staple animal of the Floridian ecosystem, but they have also been consistently threatened by humans- primarily through collisions with boats. In just four months, the fatalities dealt to Manatees has jumped to 500. The governor of Florida has responded with a promise to sign an additional 30 million dollars for Manatee care, rehabilitation, and support. This money will allow the state to upscale projects on Manatee habitats; the money will also go to creating a larger Manatee response and survey team. This money and the energy it has inspired may go leaps and bounds in securing the future for Manatees.
