Mother of Tristyn Bailey’s Murderer Sentenced to 30 Days in Jail

On Friday afternoon, the mother of Aiden Fucci, Crystal Smith, was sentenced to 30 days in St. Johns County jail and five years of probation after being accused of tampering with evidence related to Tristyn Bailey’s murder. Surveillance video footage shows Smith washing Fucci’s blue jeans hours after he murdered Bailey. She then takes the jeans to her bedroom and brings them out, inspecting the pants several times before putting them back in her son’s room. Later, a statement was made that the jeans and the drain in the sink later tested positive for blood. Members of Bailey’s family hoped that the Smith sentencing would help them move forward, focusing on the life and legacy of Tristyn, including her memorial foundation. Smith, who has already been taken to jail, will be eligible to end her probation after three years if there are no violations.
