Fall Forecast

What’s In This Season?
As the air regains its crisp, Autumn chill, nostalgic feelings of cozy fall nights flood back into mind. All across campus, Panthers are decked out in White Fox sweatshirts, Ugg boots, and Birkenstock Boston Clogs. Starbucks’ infamous Pumpkin Spice Latte and Pumpkin Cream Cheese Muffins are also being carried by students.
As always, trends are constantly changing. This year, Nease students reported what they are most looking forward to with both fall fashion and their favorite fall treat to forecast this year’s fall forecast.
Fall Flavors
To find out this year’s trending drink, we first looked at trends from years prior. Some popular beverages from past years include the Pumpkin Spice Latte, Almond Spice Iced Coffee, and the Iced Pumpkin Chai Latte from Starbucks- but are students still enjoying these drinks or have they found a new favorite?
Carmen Palenik, Senior, says she still enjoys an “Iced Pumpkin Chai Latte because in Florida we don’t really get to experience all four seasons, so I’ll take what I can get, even if it’s a little drink” reflecting the strong preference for the Iced Pumpkin Chai, which has prevailed from last season to this one.
Casey Eliason, Junior, prefers the new “Apple Crisp Nondairy Chai from Starbucks because it has lots of fall flavor.” This year’s Apple Chai brought a new drink trend to the forecast along with other evolving fall trends.
Fall Fashion:
Last Autumn, we saw the “Clean Girl” aesthetic bleed into fall fashion through minimalistic trends with few patterns and designs. Most students stuck to Earthy-neutral tones in their wardrobe palettes and wore simple accessories. This year, the predicted fall trends are expected to be very different. According to Cosmopolitan Magazine, “animal prints, layered clothes, and chunky jewelry are all on the radar this year.”
When asked what her favorite fall fashion trends are, Junior Isabella Mills said she loves to wear Ugg boots because they allow her to be both comfortable and fashionable at school, showing the versatile style of many Nease students. While this year’s fall fashion is taking a very bold approach, we also expect to see our students in the traditonal fall staples like knitted sweaters and wide-leg sweatpants, while still incorporating some of the more bold colors, prints, and patterns.
