Rory Mcllory wins 89th Masters

Last Sunday, at the 89th Annual Masters Championship, Ireland’s Rory Mcllory won his green jacket after 14 years, in an intense playoff with England’s Justin Rose. With this championship now under his belt, Mcllory has now secured a career grand slam. This grand slam includes winning all four major championships: The U.S Open, The Open Championship, The PGA Championship, and The Masters. Mcllory is now the 6th player to ever do this, along with Gene Sarazen, Ben Hogan, Gary Player, Jack Nicklaus and Tiger Woods. This win was not easy for him. He led Bryson DeChambeau at the start of the round, then Justin Rose took a lead towards the final hole. Mcllory and Rose tied after the last hole, requiring a playoff round. This is when the top two players have to play the 18th hole again, and whoever shoots the lowest wins. It came down to a 2-foot putt, which Rory had been missing shots like that all day, so nerves were high. He sunk it and earned that green jacket and lifetime membership to Augusta, along with tons of money and sponsorships.
