On April 17th, 2025, a mass shooting occurred at Florida State University in Tallahassee. The suspect, 20-year-old Phoenix Ikner, arrived on campus around 11 AM and moved in and out of the car for over an hour. Ikner left the garage and began firing a handgun. The shooting was reported to police immediately. Minutes later Ikner was shot by officers and taken into custody. He was hospitalized and expected to survive. The suspect’s stepmom was the sheriff’s deputy, whose handgun was also found at the scene. The suspect had access to multiple firearms that were also used in the shooting.
