Summer Checklist for Rising Seniors

Summer is a vital opportunity for rising seniors to prepare, and get ahead. Here is a guide for what every rising senior should consider doing this summer. To start, you should be finalizing your college list. Narrow down schools that fit your desired preferences. You should aim for your favorite/top choices but remember to apply to at least one safety school just in case. Secondly, if needed you should be preparing for the SAT or ACT. Use the summer to study or take the tests until you get your preferred score. Online there are free practice sources available, such as Khan Academy. Thirdly, you should be starting or working on your college essay. Many essay prompts are already provided by colleges, like the Common App essay. Fourthly, build up your resume, find volunteer work, get a job or internship, or help out a local nonprofit. Lastly, there are many scholarships out there that you can start applying for. Stay organized with the deadlines and do your research. Do not forget to take the time to relax, and recharge. But remember, use this time to be productive, do not do everything last minute.
