Anyone But You Review
Sydney Sweeney and Glen Powell starred in the movie “Anyone but You” and premiered in movie theaters on December 22nd, 2023. There are many mixed opinions on this, as it has been frequently compared to the iconic “10 Things I Hate About You” on media platforms like TikTok and Snapchat. Though I thought the casting, costuming, and overall production was phenomenal, I kept covering my face out of the secondhand embarrassment that the flirting gave me. The movie had a lot of cliches, which for some people is great, but for me, it just didn’t work. I could not take the plot seriously and feel that it lacked a climax as well as character development. There were some great moments for sure, and after the film, the catchy, uplifting song “Unwritten” by Natasha Bedingfield was stuck in my head for a solid week. However, if you cringe at pickup lines, play fighting, and insult flirting, my recommendation would be to see Trolls 3 instead of this film.
