Best Spring Break Activities

As the weather starts to get warmer and classes get harder, everyone starts counting down the days until spring break. Spring break officially starts on March 11 for St Johns County and there are a bunch of fun activities that you can do during this time of year from cruising in the Mediterranean to hanging out at your local beach. Here are some of the most common activities:

Vacation at Sea

Cruises are an iconic spring break getaway trip since all ships are different and you can decide which one best suits your family. For cruises that can be great for younger families, there is the Disney Cruise Line and Royal Caribbean International and for cruises that are targeted toward teens and young adults, try the Norwegian or Carnival cruise lines. Also, you can decide which location you would like to visit with the most common locations being Mexico, the Caribbean, the Mediterranean, or Bahamas. However, one thing all these cruises have in common is their amazing excursions at these destinations with some including snorkeling, sightseeing tours, zip lining, and swimming with dolphins. And on top of that, each cruise provides fantastic food, exciting entertainment, relaxing spas, and new memories with your family. Junior Katherine Fasula explained, “This year my family is going on a cruise for spring break. I’m really excited for it because I haven’t been on a cruise since elementary school and I also have a lot of family going, too”.

Driving Around the World

While road trips can be taken at any time of the year, spring break is the perfect time due to the beautiful weather and scenery. Road trips allow family and friends to bond and learn new things about each other. Also, road trips allow you to travel to your dream destination for an affordable price. If you don’t have any destinations in mind, here are some of the most common spring break locations: The Florida Keys, New Orleans, and Asheville. However, if you plan to take a trip make sure to plan for everything that could happen since you could be in the car for days.

No Place Like Home

While traveling for the break is fun, you can have just as much fun staying home. One thing you can do is spend time together with friends, and this can lead to many different activities that you can do together. Some of these activities include having a sleepover, going out to see a movie, playing at an arcade, or shopping at the mall. However, if you want to keep it simple, you can have a movie night or game night at home, and these are equally fun. Also, staying home allows you to take care of yourself by sleeping late or chilling in bed watching your favorite movies and TV shows. Junior Ethan Diachun explained that over the break he’s going to catch up with his schoolwork, but he also said, “I am looking forward to not waking up early for school”.

Wrapping Up the Trip

While all those activities are a fantastic way to spend your break, make sure to have fun, stay safe, and enjoy your time off from school. This time will move quickly so make the most of it by spending time with family and friends and by creating new memories together.
