Blood Moon Scheduled for Sunday
A total lunar eclipse or a “blood moon” happens when the moon travels into Earth’s shadow cast by the sun, projecting light onto the moon and making it appear red. This phenomenon will be visible to the Americas and Western Europe this Sunday, May 15th.
Unlike a solar eclipse, a lunar eclipse is perfectly safe to view through the naked eye or even a telescope. The totality of the eclipse will be visible beginning at approximately 11:30 pm ET and will last for about an hour and a half.
