D-SNAP Approved For Florida Residents
This program helps out low-income Florida residents who are recovering from Hurricane Ian by providing “emergency food stamps.” Families who may not be eligible for the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program under regular circumstances but have since acquired qualifying disaster-related expenses or are in an identified disaster area are eligible for these food stamps. Families that are currently in the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program are not eligible for the D-SNAP program.
D-SNAP’s timing always varies with the circumstances of every disaster. However, it always starts after grocery stores have been restored and families are able to purchase food. Before operating, the state must be sure that the proper resources are in place to prepare. This program has been divided into three phases with Flagler and St. Johns in phase two, pre-registration. The state agency offers in-person and virtual D-SNAP operations. To learn more about the details and qualifying circumstances, visit https://www.myflfamilies.com/hurricaneian/.
