Liam Strong

Liam Mickley, an eight-year-old boy, is currently fighting a battle that no human being would ever want to fight. “He is undergoing treatment for medulloblastoma, a form of brain cancer…with two brain surgeries, three procedures requiring sedation, and 30 rounds of radiation.” He has named his tumor Thanos, a Marvel villain, and gave his doctor the name Iron Man, who in the movie defeats Thanos. Liam is on an 8U travel baseball team that has put on tournaments for him along with head coach Justin Barlant and the Oakland Knights. “In January, Liam was able to ring the bell at UF Health’s Proton Therapy Center after he finished his final radiation treatment.  His mother, Renee Mickley, says that “It is hard, and somedays are harder than others…I am no longer employed. My job is to take care of Liam.” “With still about 7-8 months left of chemotherapy and recovery, Liam’s family has opened an account at VyStar Credit Union to help with the many expenses that come with this situation. Checks must be payable to Renee Mickley. The benefiter is Liam Mickley. The last four digits of the account number are 3107.
