Lockdown in Florida High School Due to ‘Cruel Prank’
After an attempt to “capitalize on [a] threat” last Friday, two groups of students face criminal charges and likely expulsion from Mainland High School, Daytona Beach. For months, there have been internet trolls spreading threats concerning the safety of high school students. Some students decided to “collaborate with each other to create panic,” according to police. This collaboration involved some students alerting an administrator that someone had a gun and one student running away, “causing a large crowd to follow him”. After investigation, it was confirmed that there was no gun. This situation has resulted in an increase of security on Monday.
