Nease Wrestlers Win District Individual Titles! 

  The Nease wrestling team came home with some big wins on February 17th after the district IBT (individual bracketed tournament) at Fletcher High School in Jax Beach. Alan Rivera (left) and Lucian Slayden (right) both won the tournament at their weight classes of 190lbs and 132lbs respectively, a result of commitment and a deep love for the sport. “Huge congratulations to our 2 District Champions!” says Bradley Lucas, the head wrestling coach at Nease. “There was some great wrestling [at the tournament]. For some, it’s onto next year, but for 5 [wrestlers] it’s onto next week!” Nease qualified 5 wrestlers for the regional tournament in DeLand to compete for spots at the state tournament at the Silver Spurs Arena in Orlando. Nonetheless, this is certainly an accomplishment for these individuals that they will carry with them for years to come.
