Record Breaking Run During Matanzas 5k

Over 800 runners raced on January 22nd for the 42nd annual Matanzas 5k race in St. Augustine. Natasha Rogers ran a 15:51 and was the fastest female runner in the race. However, the record was set when David Brett ran a 13:59. This time broke the previous record of 14:06. Brett says, “I felt very good, very nice course, very flat… I enjoyed the race.” Donations from the race go to benefit youth running programs across St. John’s County schools. Over the past 42 years that the race has been held, close to $300,000 has been raised.
