Shoeboxes of Love: Help a Homeless Individual for the Holidays
This holiday season, all of Jacksonville has the opportunity to make a difference in the homeless community by donating shoeboxes to the City Rescue’s Annual Shoeboxes of Love Project. Shoeboxes are filled with any necessities for those on the streets in need. Necessities may include blankets, toothbrush, toothpaste, deodorant, or any travel-sized toiletries. The chart below shows various examples that can be included in the box. Donors are urged to not enclose any heavy items, since many receivers will have backpacks and burdensome items can weigh down their bag. City Rescue is also requesting that contributors wrap the shoebox they are donating in a blanket and indicate on the box whether it is going to a man, woman, or a child (girl or boy). Shoeboxes of Love can be turned in at the following addresses:
- City Rescue Mission, 426 S. McDuff Ave., 32254
- Cabinets by Design, 3728 Phillips Highway Suite 301 & 304, 32207
- WJXT Studios at 4 Broadcast Place, 32207
