Tornado Touches Down in St. Johns County
Along with the heavy wind and rain Northeast Florida was subjected to yesterday, a tornado swept through the World Golf Village area. The tornado was confirmed to be an EF-1, with top wind speeds being reported up to 100 miles per hour. Damage was extensive, as the path was 6.7 miles long and 310 yards wide when the tornado fell at 11:33 am. Reports of damage include broken windows, wrecked patios, broken fences, soffits, roofing tiles, and vinyl siding being torn from houses. It was also reported that a tree split and fell onto a mobile home near County Road 208. Thankfully, only one small injury was recorded from the tornado.
