Tornadoes Throughout the Country Cause Immense Damage

Recently, numerous tornadoes devastated numerous states, leaving many people without homes or even clean water. People from around the country are trying their best to provide aid to these helpless people and rebuild their communities. Kentucky especially, saw the most damage with twelve confirmed deaths and hundreds of homes that were impacted. Some lucky homeowners from the midwest had been traveling and avoided the storm. Amber Lawson, a new resident to Illinois, explained how she was completely shocked and worried for all of her friends/family that she could not get in contact with after the storm. Also, John Gilman, a Jacksonville native, is helping the Red Cross in Kentucky by handing out meals to those who need it. He is even spending Christmas there because many people need help and don’t have homes to go back to this holiday season. Although the storms along with the damage were a horrible tragedy, the country has come together and proved that kindness can overpower any tornado. Even though St. Johns County wasn’t affected, you can help those in Kentucky by visiting redcross.org and donating.
