Triathlete hit by truck during IRONMAN

By Harper Kane

On Saturday May 16th, the inaugural IRONMAN in Jacksonville took place. This 140.6-mile marathon took place through Nocatee, Ponte Vedra Beach, as well as along A1A. This Marathon includes a 2.4-mile swim in the St. Johns River, a 112-mile bike ride, and a 26.2-mile marathon. The 112-mile bike ride took place along Nocatee Parkway, Valley Ridge Boulevard, and Roscoe Boulevard. One triathlete was 50 miles into his bike ride, when a truck pulled out in front of him leaving him covered in blood for the remainder of the marathon. Triathlete, Zach Stinson, managed to continue his marathon. His biggest worry was that as he continued, his wife and daughter would see him and be in total shock. He reassured them that he would be okay and would take himself to the ER as soon as he was done. This was Stinson third marathon and he plans on continuing to do them despite the scare.
