Erosion on Saint Johns Beaches Prompts $500,000 Study
Resultant of two major hurricanes, Hurricane Irma and Hurricane Matthew, and other passing storms and nor’easters, the erosion has led to flooding, building loss, and road damage.
David Ruderman with the Jacksonville District of the Army Corps has stated that, “The core will develop a possible approach which is to protect the coast.”
The coast risk management study now underway, Ruderman and his team plans on examining a time span of 50 to 100 years to both understand what the dynamics of coastal erosion and protection are and develop the most effective means of dealing with the pressing issue.
