Met Gala Outfits- Yay or Nay?

On Monday, September 13th, an iconic event took place in New York City- the Met Gala. The Met Gala is essentially a showcase of elaborate costumes made by famous designers. There were some very iconic and gorgeous looks, but there were also some questionable ones. Here is my personal account of the five best outfits and the three worst.

  In fifth place is Valentina Sampaio. Her red dress was gorgeous on her, and the photo posted by Vogue portrayed her as a powerful woman with a strong voice. On a scale of 1-10, I rate her look as a 9.

Next is Lili Reinhart. Her dress was also gorgeous and portrayed her as a really happy and bubbly girl with a bright personality, which is refreshing to see in our modern world. I would rate her outfit as a 9 also. 

In third place I have Anok Yai. Her dress is for sure one of my favorites and I love the sleek look she had. In my opinion, she looked like a Gucci model. I would rate her look a 9.3 out of 10.

Coming in second place is Billie Eilish. Her glamorous look mirrored the vibe that she portrayed through her recent album. Her hair and makeup was also very elegant. I rate Billie a 9.6/10.

Finally, in first place, we have Iman Abdulmajid. Her glamorous outfit was the definition of an iconic Met Gala look. I would definitely give her a 10/10 for her beautiful look. 

Now, there were also some very interesting and questionable looks that were not the prettiest. Coming in third place is Kim Kardashian. Her all black look by Balenciaga was inspired by her husband Kanye West’s new album, Donda. Every inch of her body was completely covered, and I personally did not like it. I would rate this look a 5/10.

The second worst costume at the Met Gala was, in my opinion, Dixie D’Amelio. I believe she had a good intention with her outfit, but it did not come out right when putting it all together and styling it. Her wig was very strange and did not fit with the outfit she was wearing. I would rate her outfit as a 3/10.

Finally, the worst outfit at the Met Gala in my opinion was Kim Petras with her interesting animal-inspired dress. The only thing I found appealing about her look was her makeup. The shape of the dress is very strange to me and the giant animal head on her chest was, to say the least, horrifying. Because of this, I would rate her a 0.5/10.
