St. Johns County Brush Fire Along CR-214 Contained

On Tuesday, February 27th, residents in St. Johns County were evacuated from their homes because of an afternoon brush fire near County Road 214. The blaze, which began on Tuesday afternoon, had prompted local authorities to take immediate action. When the flames were under control and put out, the St. Johns County Fire Rescue Department left the scene and monitored the fire overnight. Florida Forest Service said 100% of the fire was contained and 17 acres of land was burned. JFRD Captain Eric Prosswimmer says he expects smoke to remain visible in the area for the next few days.
