AI Revises the Beatles
In today’s world AI is becoming increasingly more present, facilitating benefits to human life in various fields. Despite its versatility, it is conventionally seen only as a pathway to a more technological and advanced future, and not recognized for its other potentials. Next Wednesday (November 1st, 2023), AI will make a monumental step, illustrating that it is capable of not only making a better tomorrow but can also help us value the past like never before.
Paul McCartney’s project of reviving The Beatle’s Last Song, Now and Then, illustrates this new potential of AI. This unreleased song was never published due to the splitting of the group, followed by the passing of its members. Though bits and pieces of it were recorded previously, nothing could be done to fulfill the original intent of the song, without changing it drastically. But now with the help of AI, a combination of the recorded parts was able to be used, producing a product that would have been like what the Beatles would have released if they finished this song. This suggests that AI will allow us to do even more with the voices of those who have passed and can be a valuable tool in the music industry, allowing us to pay tribute to more beloved artists, who left us too soon.
